Growing up, we were taught in primary school about the importance of planting and taking care of trees—both at home and in school—as part of efforts to enhance our environment. This early education instilled in me a deep appreciation for reforestation and environmental conservation. After high school, I had the opportunity to work with the International Tree Foundation, where I actively participated in tree-planting initiatives in kenya and uganda . Despite the region being largely semi-arid and arid, we focused on sustainable afforestation efforts to combat desertification and restore green spaces. I worked with the foundation for six years, gaining hands-on experience in community engagement, tree care, and environmental restoration. Since moving to Ontario as permanent residence a month ago, I was eager to find similar opportunities to continue contributing to reforestation and environmental sustainability. When I learned about your initiatives, I did not hesitate to apply. I am passionate about making a tangible impact, and I plan to dedicate my summers to furthering this cause.
