I'm sharing this here because Hospital Employees' Union members live and work in communities across British Columbia and are members of many local Facebook groups. This information is relevant to them as workers, union members, and residents, particularly with the 2026 HEU Convention approaching. If this post isn't of interest to you, please feel free to scroll past. The mission of HEUBC.CA and the HEUBC Facebook Group is to promote transparency, accountability, and open discussion among HEU members. One of our goals is to encourage HEU to remain politically neutral and independent of provincial political parties so it can represent all members equally, regardless of their political beliefs. Over the years, HEU has directed millions of dollars of members' dues toward political activities and support for the BCNDP. We believe members deserve greater transparency and accountability regarding those expenditures and that union resources should first and foremost be focused on representing the members who pay the dues. HEU Members: Please Help Spread the Word Over the past several weeks, HEUBC.CA has been completely reorganized and expanded to become a central resource for HEU members preparing for the 2026 HEU Convention. The website now includes: Top 5 Constitutional Amendments Convention 2026 information Ratification Court Case updates and court documents Election Tampering information from the 2024 Convention HEU Leadership & Staff Compensation Political Action Spending analysis Public Health Order information Legislative proposals to improve transparency and accountability Financial analysis and much more. We have also added a "Start Here" section so members can quickly find the information most important to them. The HEUBC Facebook Group has now grown to more than 3,100 HEU members from across British Columbia. It is not a Local group—it belongs to all HEU members. Whether you're a care aide, clerk, porter, tradesperson, housekeeper, food service worker, technician, or any other HEU member, you are welcome to participate. Unlike some discussion groups, members can post questions, ideas, and concerns without waiting for someone to approve every post. All HEU-related topics are welcome for respectful discussion. The goal is to give members a place to exchange information, ask questions, and have open conversations about the issues affecting our union. Together, the HEUBC Facebook Group and HEUBC.CA can become invaluable resources during bargaining, Convention, elections, and other important union matters by giving members access to information, documents, and different perspectives before decisions are made.
